Govt Claims Of Economic Growth Do Not Reflect In My Kitchen

There is a reason why farmers and job seekers have been demonstrating periodically across the nation, according to Amandeep Kaur, a teacher based in Chandigarh.

I am unaware of any future RBI estimates or sarkari data on the nation’s economy. I am limited to talking about the day-to-day challenges I experience managing my household. The costs of cooking oil, rice, milk, gas cylinders, and other items are all at historically high levels, and these prices are the focus of my daily data. I’ve never in my life found running the kitchen to be such a difficult undertaking. The average person no longer has access to any vital goods. And I don’t see any relief coming any time soon either.

It is more difficult for a low-income or poor household to survive. The rate of unemployment has never been higher. Farm income is declining. The fact that farmers and young people looking for work are opposing the government’s policies on a regular basis in different places is not a coincidence. They have personally been having trouble because of rising prices.

I am not a political person, and I have no facts to back up my assertions. But I just speak what I experience and discover every day. And I can tell that the public is in pain. I haven’t heard of anyone in my social circle who has received a pay raise or saw increased profits. People, businesses, and lives were lost in the Covid’s 2020 attack.Salary reductions were experienced by many people who kept their jobs. I’m not aware of any cancellation of such pay reductions. I only ever hear people discussing the steadily rising mehangai.

We are aware that the majority of the food and commodities are delivered to nearby retail stores. Now look at the graph showing the increase in gasoline prices over the past two years. This directly affects goods used on a daily basis. It doesn’t take a finance minister’s jargon to understand how painful increasing inflation is.

I count it a blessing that at least I have a job. I frequently read full-page newspaper advertisements about the government’s promises and claims, but I don’t see them being fulfilled in reality or in our daily lives. Can a person today who makes between $15 and $20,000 a month and lives with his family in a leased home give his kids a healthy diet or a quality education?

If the government and RBI are correct in their assertions that things are steady and the economy is growing, then its effects ought to be seen in everyday people’s lives. This doesn’t appear to be happening at all. Claims and actual events are not the same.

My family is a farming family. I recall that the Delhi government of Narendra Modi had stated its intention to double farmer income by 2022 before taking office. The year 2023 is now. One farmer whose income has doubled will do. Does the government know why the cost of fertiliser and other farming necessities has gone up?

I can only summarise my observations and draw the conclusion that managing the kitchen is difficult. And I have no doubt that the majority of middle-class households across the nation also experience this.
